The Heart of The Way Home

I could hear God's invitation to surrender and to trust. What followed from my heart was a resounding ‘no’. From that moment onward my soul started unraveling and I entered a transformational healing journey for the next 5 years. Truth be told, I am still on that journey. 

 

This is what God did for me: He deconstructed and dismantled my faith, corrected my view of Him and revealed my true identity in Him, while rightsizing my expectations of life. I thought I was doing everything that was expected of me as a good Christian woman. I thought I was working for God as a faithful pastor in His church. I thought I could change the world  if I just applied myself and worked really hard. I didn't realize that in all my Christian effort I was busy building my own kingdom and not the Kingdom of God. 

 

My journey of returning home to the heart of God began with joining the Transformation Center where I spent two years learning from Ruth Haley Barton how to reconnect to the heart of God, how to practice the presence of Jesus and how to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. That experience was transformational and I have never been the same again. From there was born the dream for The Way Home Ministries.

 

Year by year, God has led and blessed me with time, space and a growing community of those who also yearn to find their way back home to the heart of God. Together we have crafted Awaken and Journey and continue to walk into other opportunities where together, we listen, pray and are present.

 

Somewhere on the journey, God called me to Spiritual Direction. I have trained under Terry Wardle and the team at Healing Care Ministries in the Spiritual Formation and Art of Spiritual Direction Program. I have a Certificate in Foundations of Formational Care from the same organization. I am still learning and growing.

 

I am so blessed to have found home. I am eager for you to discover or re-connect with God and to find your way home, too.

I am married to the love of my life. God has blessed us with three incredible adult children and their spouses. I have been in pastoral ministry for the last 17 years and in spiritual formation for five. I live in Wisconsin ... only because the summers are glorious and fall is breathtaking.
