The Heart of The Way Home

There was a season when I sensed God inviting me to surrender and trust. My heart answered with a quiet but firm 'no'. From that moment, my soul began to unravel, and I entered what became a deeply transformational healing journey—one that has now spanned more than five years. Truthfully, I’m still on that journey.

Along the way, God did something unexpected. He gently dismantled my faith in order to rebuild it. He corrected my view of who He is, revealed my true identity in Him, and right-sized my expectations of life. I once believed I was doing everything required of a good Christian woman. I thought I was faithfully working for God as a pastor and that with enough effort I could change the world. What I didn’t realize was that, in all my striving, I was often building my own kingdom rather than the Kingdom of God.

My journey home deepened when I joined the Transformation Center, where I spent two years learning from Ruth Haley Barton how to reconnect with the heart of God, practice the presence of Jesus, and listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit. That season marked me permanently, and from it the dream for The Way Home Ministries was born.

Somewhere along the way, God also called me into Spiritual Direction. I trained with Terry Wardle and the team at Healing Care Ministries through the Spiritual Formation and Art of Spiritual Direction Program and also earned a Certificate in Foundations of Formational Care. My continued training has also included Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, trauma-informed care, and the practice of healing prayer, all of which shape the way I accompany people toward wholeness and freedom in Christ.

This current season of life has me caring for aging parents and healing from a significant church heartbreak. These experiences have not been wasted. God has used both loss and suffering to grow in me faith, hope, and love. Out of those places, He has shaped a beautiful and fruitful ministry—one that reflects what He continues to do in me. He keeps changing me, and through that work, changing others for His glory.

I am still learning and growing. I am deeply grateful to have found my way home, and I would be honored to walk with you as you discover—or rediscover—God’s loving presence and find your own way back to the heart of God.

I am married to the love of my life. We are currently enjoying being empty-nesters. God has blessed us with three incredible adult children and their spouses. I have been in pastoral ministry for the last 17 years and in spiritual formation for seven. I live in Wisconsin ... only because the summers are glorious and fall is breathtaking.
